Why am I in pain? I feel so trapped and I want a better life.

There is so much evidence now that peoples’ pain has been growing in their brain over a period of time and these areas of pain can be seen in the brain.  Your pain is real! This is often called neuroplasticity = the brain’s ability to form new neural connections throughout our life.
Your brain believes that your pain is normal because it associates an inner negative message with your pain.
What did you learn about yourself when you were young WHICH ISN’T TRUE?

Because you have grown this pain you are able to un-grow your pain

It will take your commitment and trust in the process but you can do this.

Your body and brain are amazing and you will learn more about them as we work together – the most important thing to know now is that your body and mind need to feel safe with you – to know that you are going to give yourself KIND messages and be kind to yourself.

Your life affects your pain – while your pain affects your life

Tell me – do you focus on pleasing others and deny your needs? How do we know that?
What did you learn about yourself when you were young – which is not true?
Who taught you and how did they do it?
It was no fault of your inner child then; YET they survived with heroic perseverance and you are not a useless piece of crap

Are you playing victim to your pain?
Is it running your life?
What else is running your life now – or did in the past?
This may give us a clue as to what your pain is REALLY about
Can your pain be hiding something else?
A terrible emotion?
At this point you may turn away because you know the emotion we are talking about – and the memory which this makes you think about.
Yet this is exactly the point at which the Healing happens. TRUST and feel safe with me.

Become a hero of your own life
You deserve nice times and there’s no need to be perfect. You can forgive yourself for creating this pain.

Did you know that your whole body responds to threat?

Part of your brain expects that you will be in pain and you believe this pain is part of you. You find yourself thinking about this pain most of the time.
YET if you were not thinking about your pain or talking about your pain what else would there be in your life? Have you become your own threat now?

FLARE UPS
Prepare for a flare. It will happen. You’ll have one of those difficult days. Prepare for those days now by putting together a kit to help get you through the rough times. Inside this kit could be a letter reminding you to stay positive, a list of your best qualities and accomplishments, your favourite sweets, music, photos, and whatever else provides short-term comfort.

Expressive writing in a journal allows the threat to come to the surface – and allows you to see what is creating your pain.

If you decide to walk away from this blog now that’s absolutely fine because it’s not the time for you to grow.
If you stay now – welcome. You are ready to change.

A RECENT CONFERENCE ON CHRONIC PAIN FRAN ATTENDED
Organised by SIRPA UK, full of scientists, reinforced my established approach;

  • Reduce the fear of pain it’s just about rewiring neural circuits in the brain – it’s a brain derived sensation that is harmless and NOT A DANGER SIGNAL
  • Use Pain Reprocessing Therapy and somatic tracking as explained in the book ‘The Way Out’
  • Use emotional interventions to process stressful life events – often in childhood.
    I use EFT commonly called tapping.
  • Use somatic tracking to alter the relationship to the pain and listen to your pain.
  • Find support from fellow pain sufferers at one of my pain clubs
  • Create for yourself better emotional Awareness using Expressive writing
  • Create positive mood and instill expectation of relief – use gentle self massage
    In addition I add the power of the sense of smell to ‘anchor’ your positive messages and self-massage experience using my WellBeingBlend of luxurious essential oils
  • Your churning feelings in your stomach – or even IBS – are part of your body’s response to pain and anxiety.
  • Graded exposure to triggers, such as bending, sitting, standing, walking: opportunities to rewrite the brain

Would you like to ask yourself, and answer, some honest questions which will help you tell your story?

What age were you when you realised you had a problem with pain?

Who did you reach out to at that time for help and support? Were you heard and supported?

Describe your first visit to GP and their response and attempts to help/understand

Are you aware of any sudden fear/worry/virus/illness previous to your first pains?

Was there anything you were feeling in your body before? Headaches/pain in shoulders or back or legs/anxiety which you ignored?

Do you know what foods suit you now?

What were you eating 5 years before your pain started which you suspect may have had a negative effect on your pain?

How much in the way of synthetic chemicals were you eating/drinking? Aspartame?

Do you live in the city or countryside?

Is there any environmental pollution you can think of which may have had an effect on your pain?

Many suffers tell me that deep down there is a deep fear – often they don’t know what of – can you relate to this and tell me what that fear may be of?

Was there an important relationship you were in when you were fearful that they would leave or attack you or made you feel stupid and inadequate?

Tell me what else you feel may have been a cause of your Fibromyalgia.

How much have you found out already about your pain and how it works in your body?

What did you find was a useful and helpful source of information?
